Copper-nickel alloys are made for parts that must resist seawater corrosion for decades, from piping to high-load shafts.

Alloy family

What this family is good at

Corrosion resistance that lasts at sea

Copper-nickel alloys keep their surface intact in seawater and other aggressive media. They equip seawater piping, cooling circuits, fire-fighting systems, heat exchangers and condensers on frigates and submarines. The family also includes bar grades that add high strength, and strip grades chosen for their electrical resistance.

Navinic 10 and Navinic 30, our 90/10 and 70/30 cupronickels

Navinic 10 (CuNi10Fe1Mn, UNS C70600) and Navinic 30 (CuNi30Mn1Fe, UNS C71500) are our cupronickels for seawater circuits. Both are weldable and ductile, supplied as bars and tubes, annealed or cold worked. They are compliant with ASTM B466, BS 2871 and BS 2874, and Navinic 30 also with ASTM B171 and MIL C 15726.

Hardibron®, K5, K5B and K7 for high loads

Our copper-nickel-aluminium bars add strength, wear resistance and a strictly non-magnetic behaviour to the corrosion resistance of the family. Hardibron® (CuNi14Al3Fe1) goes into shafts, bearing bushes, valves, pumps and wellhead equipment for offshore, subsea and onshore oil and gas systems. Its bars are supplied with a guaranteed minimum tensile strength of 780 MPa and a hardness of 240 HB.

K5 (CuNi14Al2, CuNi14Al3) serves aerospace parts that need fatigue resistance without magnetism, and is compliant with ASNA 6127 and NFL 14702. K5B (CuNi14Mn4Al2) and K7 (CuNi14Al3Fe1) complete the range for defence and aerospace.

Grades for electrical resistance, cryogenics and machining

Constantan 45 (CuNi44Mn1Fe) is a strip for electrical resistance parts, with stable resistance as temperature changes. ARCAP® AP4 (Cu55Ni44Mn1) is strictly non-magnetic, retains its properties at cryogenic temperatures and offers good machinability in rod, strip and wire forms. C97 and C98 are leaded grades for machined parts that carry current.

How we work with you
