Wear and friction resistance

Wear depends on the load, the speed and the lubrication. We choose the alloy for your service conditions, and Hardiall replaces copper-beryllium in friction parts.

What we recommend, by service condition

Cost comes first, moderate loads
High tensile brasses and manganese bronze.
Medium to high working loads
Nickel aluminium bronze, for its resistance to friction, wear and galling.
Friction with reduced lubrication
Spinodal copper-nickel-tin such as Hardiall (CuNi15Sn8, C72900), or copper-nickel-silicon-chromium such as NS30 (CuNi7Si2Cr1).
Replacing copper-beryllium in a friction part
Hardiall, our beryllium-free spinodal friction alloy.

Does a part wear out before its service interval?

Send us the load, the speed, the lubrication and the counterpart. Our engineers propose an alloy for these conditions.
